Larry Wheels Early Life and Challenges

Larry “Wheels” Williams was born into poverty and turmoil in the Bronx, New York, on December 3rd, 1994.

His father left when he was only one year old. When Larry was six years old, his mother had a physical altercation with her boyfriend, placing him in foster care at 11.

When he was 12, Larry left the city and moved to St. Martin in the French Caribbean Islands with his mother.

Due to a lack of funds, Larry could not attend an English school on St. Martin, so instead, he spent his days lifting weights using a makeshift setup consisting of a broom and cinder blocks at each end.

With dial-up internet being too slow to use, Larry would take his bike out for rides to tire himself out and then return home to work out more before sleeping.

This helped him develop a passion for weightlifting that he still practices today. Larry was only 14 when he first started training, and it’s clear that the hard work has paid off.

The Discovery of Strength

At 16, Larry became addicted to drugs and anabolic steroids after being introduced to them by a friend he met at the gym and responded to drugs and, as a result, discovered how gifted he was at being strong.

Larry entered his first RPS Powerlifting meet at 18, where he competed in the 275-pound class but weighed 245 pounds which he won.

But it wasn’t until 2017 that he became famous when he achieved a world record total of 2,275 lbs (squat, bench, and deadlift) in the 275-pound weight category (without wraps).
