MayLa Ash: From Track Star to Bodybuilding Sensation

MayLa Ash is a bodybuilding champion with many accomplishments under her belt. She is known for being one of the sport’s strongest and most muscular women.

MayLa Ash’s Early Athletic Career

MayLa Ash is a bodybuilder who has competed in the National Physique Committee (NPC). 

She started her athletic career as a track and field athlete, but she discovered bodybuilding after suffering injuries.

In 1998, she won a bronze medal at the Junior Olympics. In 1999 and 2000, she was injured and unable to compete due to these injuries; however, during this time, she discovered bodybuilding which became her new passion.

MayLa Ash’s Achievements in Figure and Women’s Physique

MayLa Ash has competed in Figure and Women’s Physique. She has turned pro in both divisions but now focuses on Women’s Physique. 

In 2018, MayLa won the Arnold Classic 212 title and was also named IFBB Pro Figure Athlete of the Year.

In 2019, MayLa placed third at the Europa Supershow in Miami Beach, Florida–her first time competing as a pro athlete in this division. 

Later that year, she won another event: The Olympia Weekend Classic 212 Showdown at Gold’s Gym Venice Beach, where she took home $10K prize money plus another $5K for winning best poser!

MayLa Ash’s Transition to Women’s Bodybuilding

MayLa Ash has been competing in women’s bodybuilding since 2005. She won the New York Pro and placed fourth at Ms. Olympia in 2008, a huge accomplishment for someone who had only started training five years earlier.

In 2009, MayLa focused on adding size and maintaining a 24-inch waist–a goal she achieved by eating six meals daily and working out seven days weekly. 

She also stopped competing for a while to focus on building her business and enjoying life outside the gym!

Induction into the Western Illinois University Athletic Hall of Fame

In 1988, MayLa Ash was inducted into Western Illinois University’s Athletic Hall of Fame. While at the school, she set collegiate records in track & field and was an All-American athlete.

In addition to these accomplishments, she also earned a bachelor’s degree in physical education with an emphasis on coaching and administration.

MayLa Ash’s Journey to Becoming a Bodybuilding Superstar

MayLa Ash has been a bodybuilding superstar for over ten years. She started her journey as a track and field athlete, but after attending her first bodybuilding show, she knew it was what she wanted to do with her life.

She turned pro in figure and then transitioned into women’s physique, where she won the New York Pro in 2010. 

Two years later, at the Ms. Olympia competition (the top contest for female professional bodybuilders), MayLa came in fourth place behind Iris Kyle (who has won every year since 2007), Juliette Bergman-Vandamme and Monica Brantley-Rios–all of whom are among the best competitors in their sport today!

MayLa Ash’s Motivation and Training During Lockdowns

When the track and field team could not train, MayLa Ash’s coach encouraged her to find other ways to stay fit. 

In her room, she began doing calisthenics and isometric exercises (strength training that uses no weights). 

She also ran on the track during lockdown times. This helped her get through the lockdowns with a positive attitude and kept her motivated when she couldn’t train with other people or join them for competitions.

MayLa Ash’s Long-Term Goals and Advice

MayLa Ash is an international Wellness and Fitness Ambassador, offering seminars, workouts, and retreats. She has also written a book on bodybuilding called “Lifting Your Life.” 

In addition to these accomplishments, she has been on many television shows, including The Doctors and Good Morning America.

Her advice for those who want to get fit is: “Find something you enjoy doing–whether walking with friends or taking classes at the gym–and do it regularly! 

Make sure your diet consists of balanced meals with plenty of protein; minimize negative eating habits like bingeing on junk food late at night when stressed out; find an enjoyable activity (or two) and consider group settings or even having a fitness buddy for support.”

The world is full of people trying to fit in and be like everyone else. But MayLa Ash is not one of them.
