Stephanie Gibson: From Military Service to Olympia Glory

Stephanie Gibson has been making waves in bodybuilding since she took third place in the 2021 Figure Olympia, her debut on the sport’s biggest stage.

But did you know she’s not just an Olympia-level athlete but also a military veteran?

In this article, we’ll look at Gibson’s journey from serving in the United States Air Force to becoming a top competitor in the fitness world.

The Journey of Stephanie Gibson: Military Veteran Turned Olympia Competitor

Gibson’s story is one of determination and hard work. She joined the Air Force in 2015, inspired by her then-boyfriend’s parents, who were both in the military.

She sought out the structure, stability, and guidance that the military could provide, and she excelled in her role as Staff Sergeant (soon to be Technical Sergeant).

She’s received numerous accolades for her outstanding achievement and meritorious service, and she’s now in her eighth year of serving her country.

But Gibson’s connection to fitness goes back even further than her decision to join the military.

Her father was a bodybuilder who took her to the gym when she was just 13 years old.

From then on, she was hooked. She ran track and danced in high school, but competing in a bodybuilding show was always in the cards for her.

She and her husband, Asante, entered the Dennis James Classic in 2019, and Gibson won both Figure Novice and Figure Class A.

Asante won the Classic Physique Overall, and the couple coached themselves for the show.

Gibson’s success at the Dennis James Classic was just the beginning.

She went on to win her pro card at the NPC USA Championships in 2020, and she made her pro debut at the Lenda Murray Savannah Pro in 2021, taking home the victory.

She considered doing the Rising Phoenix that same year but focused on Olympia instead.

Her prep for the Olympia was a grueling 20 weeks, but she made it work and placed third in her debut.

She’s already qualified for the 2022 Olympia and is confident she’ll eventually win the gold medal.

Stephanie Gibson’s Faith and Fitness: How She Balances It All

Gibson’s success is due to her hard work, determination, and faith.

She relies on Philippians 4:13, which says, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me,” to get through tough times.

She’s also a firm believer in the power of fitness to help her excel in all areas of her life.

She’s reliable, dependable, and fit, allowing her to fulfill her military and training commitments.
